Ok, the floor is really going.
Placed an order for the new floor pan and headed to the shop.
It would have been so nice to just go in and start chopping away at the floor, unfortunately there’s always something to ruin the fun.
There are braces under the floor and some of the panels overlap so the removal has to be thought out, planned. Crap.
First step was to remove the seat platforms. Pretty straight forward.
Grabbed my drill gun and crawled under the car. My thought is to identify all of the lines where the sheet metal over labs and outline the floor supports and braces. The plan was to locate all of the corners and drill a hole through them from underneath and then go top side and connect all of the dots. With everything marked out, it’s time to start cutting.
I have a cheapy plasma cutter and I thought it would cut through the floor with zero issues.
Issues.
The black coating is a very good insulator and the plasma arc could not make sufficient ground. No ground, no cutting. Had to do more scraping to expose enough of the bare metal to make ground and the plasma was now happy.
There are a few anchors in the back seat area. I had to stop and take measurements of their locations before that section of floor was removed so they can be put back in the proper location on the new floor.
With the rough measurements taken, the rest of the floor can come out.

Unless you really know what you’re doing, don’t do that. I created a lot more work for myself in the long run. The panels that remained were gouged and dented by the chisel and all of that had to be smoothed and mended before the new floor could go in but at this point, the floor is out and there are a few things that have to be taken care of before the new floor will go in.
